The San Francisco HEALTH Council supported two important streams of advocacy work that increased access to transgender healthcare for uninsured city residents: lifting transgender exclusions from HEALTH San Francisco, the  city’s public health coverage program, and the establishment of a pilot program to provide  transition surgery to uninsured transgender patients through San Francisco’s Department
of Public Health.
